The movie tells the story of a 26-year-old Vietnam War veteran who, plagued by insomnia, decides to drive a night cab in New York City to pass the time. He longs to escape from loneliness and isolation, and to find a friend who knows him well, but he is constantly rejected.
He is a man full of inner conflicts and struggles, lonely and uncertain, never able to get out of the shadow of the Vietnam War, he wanted to escape from reality, but always struck by the indifference and cruelty of reality, his desire for violence and the impulse to attempt to assassinate dignitaries, but also to the social and political turmoil at that time and moral degradation of the criticism, and ultimately, by mistake, he saves a young child prostitutes, and accidentally became a hero against the gangsters!
