The movie is a remake of the 1932 film of the same name, Scarface, and tells the story of penniless Cuban refugee Tony, who grows from a small-time gangster to a major drug lord in 1980s Miami.
Tony is an impressive character who goes from being an ambitious young man to eventually becoming a crazed drug lord corrupted by power and money; he is uneducated, has very low emotional intelligence, gains some success through luck, and slowly becomes unable to control his ambition, becoming more and more paranoid, and mistrustful of those around him and even his closest family members and friends, which ultimately leads to his mass betrayal and his death in a random shooting, ending his shameful and pathetic life.
