The film tells the story of a white youth Derek was originally a happy family with a happy family, but the firefighter father was shot by a black drug dealer when he was fighting a fire, which sowed the seeds of hatred in Derek’s heart, he began to worship obsessed with racism, neo-Nazism, hatred of blacks and immigrants, organized white people to fight against people of color, and in a clash he killed two black people and was sentenced to prison.
The experience in prison makes Derek begin to reflect on his past, and he gradually realizes that hatred does not solve any problems, but instead plunges people into deeper suffering, Derek decides to give up the hatred of the past and start a new life.
After he learns that his brother worships him, he asks his brother to correct in order to avoid repeating the same mistakes and tells his brother his own stories and experiences in jail, however, in the end, his brother is shot dead in the school toilet by a black student with whom he had previously had a conflict.
Through Derek Wanya’s story, the movie illustrates the idea that only by letting go of hatred can one truly achieve redemption and freedom.

Derek’s (Edward Norton) father was shot and killed by a black drug dealer when he was very young, and the seeds of hatred have been planted in his young mind ever since.
It turns out that Derek was good at his schoolwork and was a good student in the eyes of his teachers.
But since his father was killed, he has put all his heart and soul into dealing with colored people.
He actively organized a gang of young white gangsters to go around and fight against the colored people.
On one occasion, he shot two Negroes and went to jail for it.
After his imprisonment, Derrick joined a group of white neo-Nazis.
Later, he becomes close friends with a black man because of his work, and he begins to reflect on his past.
When he tries to break away from the neo-Nazi group in prison, he is punched and kicked.
When Derek is released from prison, he is determined to disassociate himself from his former gang and take his brother away to start a new life.
