The film is the second silent movie to pick up the award, following Wings, the silent movie that won the first Academy Award for Best Picture in 1929, which was made as a silent movie and as a tribute to the Golden Age of Hollywood.
The movie tells the story of Hollywood’s transition from silent movies to talkies from 1927 to 1932. The leading actor, George Valentine, is a talented silent movie superstar, who, through his exaggerated facial expressions and body language, vividly demonstrates the confusion and struggle of a silent movie star when the era of talkies comes, and the leading actress, Peppy Miller, demonstrates the vitality and charisma of a new generation of actors. The movie successfully portrays the growth of a nobody to an emerging icon.
The film features many classic moments from classic films, including A Star is Born, Singin’ in the Rain, Sunset Boulevard, and many more, as a tribute to the glory of the silent film era.
