The movie begins more than 2,000 years ago at the end of the Warring States period in China, when the King of Qin unifies the world and seeks immortality, and the sorceress Zi Yuan casts a spell on the King and his army, sealing them into the Terracotta Warriors.
In 1946, Rick and Evelyn’s son, Alex, who is already in college, skips school to excavate the Qin King’s tomb in Ningxia. In 1947, Rick and Evelyn are invited to send the “Eye of Shangri-La,” a legendary gemstone that can bring about immortality, to Shanghai, where a warlord and a museum curator collude to awaken the Qin King, the Emperor of China, and a fierce battle is waged. However, the warlord and the museum director collude to awaken the Dragon King, triggering a fierce battle that ends with the family successfully killing the King.
The movie’s abandonment of Egyptian culture, which had been followed in the first two episodes, in favor of a story about ancient China caused great controversy, as she was not very happy with the script, Rachel Weisz said she would not continue to play the role of Evelyn, and then Maria Bello took her place, and the movie was released with the worst word-of-mouth of the trilogy.
