The story of the movie is adapted from The Vicomte de Bragelona, the final installment of French writer Alexandre Dumas’ D’Artagnan Romantic Trilogy, but the content of the movie differs from that of the novel.
After the death of King Louis XIII of France in 1643, he was succeeded by Louis XIV, a despicable king.
“One of the Three Musketeers, Athos’ son, Raoul (Viscount Bragelona), had his fiancée snatched away by King Louis XIV, and Raoul was sent to the front by the king and was killed on the battlefield, which made Athos extremely dissatisfied.
“Aramis, one of the Three Musketeers, learns the secret that Louis XIV has a twin brother, Philippe, who wears an iron mask and is in prison.
The Three Musketeers then devise a secret plan to rescue the mysterious prisoner in the iron mask from prison and try to get him to replace Louis XIV.
When D’Artagnan falls on his sword to protect him, Philippe takes back the throne from Louis and becomes one of the greatest kings of France.

Plot Synopsis:
In the mid-17th century, the French court is transformed and the young and handsome Louis XIV (Leonardo DiCaprio) succeeds to the throne, but he is a despotic and tyrannical monarch.
