Based on the novel of the same name written by French author Colette in 1944, the movie tells the story of Kiki, a lively, mischievous and innocent energetic girl, and Gaston, a wealthy socialite, who gradually develops from friendship to love in early twentieth-century Paris.
Kiki’s growth and transformation is the main theme of the story. It is difficult to see Kiki’s grandmother training an innocent and lovely energetic girl to become an aristocratic young lady at birth; her upbringing is not only a suppression of personal freedom, but also a stifling of innocence and nature, and the once carefree and free-spirited Kiki just disappears.
